The 3 Secret Enemies of Getting your Best Work Done

First, let me just say: I am not one of those people who was born knowing how to get stuff done.

In fact, one of my most popular early posts on this blog was “The Complete Flake’s Guide to Getting Things Done.”

I was a daydreaming kid, and I’m a daydreaming adult.

I get distracted easily, and at any given moment, there are about 4,862 projects wrestling around in my brain.

And yet.

I’ve written something close to a thousand blog posts. I’ve taught more courses and workshops than I can remember. Scripted and recorded hundreds of podcast episodes. Given talks around the world. I’ve led wonderful teams, launched multiple products, and even taught a college class.

For a complete flake, I’ve gotten a hell of a lot of stuff actually out the door.

All of that is in addition to, you know, raising a kid, training the dog, making art, traveling, and all the other not-business stuff that makes life good.

Sometimes my productivity has been a disaster. And sometimes it’s been epic.

And this Friday, I’m going to hold a flash workshop to share what, in my experience, are the three deep things that make the difference.

We like to blame Facebook or other digital distractions, but there are deeper reasons we don’t do the work … even when we know how much it matters.

And, of course, I’ll also share the three game-changers that empower excellence.

This isn’t a fancy presentation with a bunch of slides. This is me sitting down and walking you through a set of three Great Big Problems that keep us struggling, and the solutions that have been incredibly helpful to me.
