I’m Sonia Simone, and I’m a marketer for people who hate marketing. My superpower is creating better customer relationships with incredibly effective communication — today more commonly known as content.

That, and I make a kickass chocolate cream pie.

My friend Naomi once published a great series of interview questions, which I answered this way:

What’s your game? What do you do?
I’m a marketing teacher, a creative coach, and an urban sketcher.

I’m chief content officer (and a co-founder) of Copyblogger Media, and we publish lots of content and courses designed to help people use words to get more business.

In addition to writing most weeks for Copyblogger, I also host the CopybloggerFM podcast, where I talk about what’s going on in content marketing.

I also teach creative writing for marketers right here at Remarkable Communication.

As often as I can, I get out to sketch or paint my community. You’ll see some of the results of that in the imagery I use on this site.

Why do you do it? Do you love it, or do you just have one of those creepy knacks?
I love it and I have one of those creepy knacks. I suspect a creepy knack usually comes from spending a whole lot of time doing The Thing.

Who are your customers? What kind of people would need or want what you offer?
Professional writers, as well as creative business owners who want more customers and don’t like obnoxious sales and marketing tactics.

What’s your marketing USP? Why should I buy from you instead of the other losers?
The kind of marketing I teach doesn’t require you to choose between your soul and the success of your business. You can have both — in fact, that’s where you find the greatest successes.

What’s next for you? What’s the big plan?
The Remarkable Writing Workshop is going to be a big focus for me in 2019, as is the CSJ (Creative Studio Journal) process.

I’m also working on a program for authors and writers to build their platform with content marketing.

And I’ll be teaching drawing and sketching as part of a larger creative process.
